International Post-Graduate Course on
PROTEIN QUALITY CONTROL
Siena, Italy, June 24-27, 2025
The International Post-Graduate Course on Protein Quality Control will take place on June 24-27, 2025 at the University of Siena.
Purified proteins are central to numerous research laboratories, serving diverse applications such as structural and functional analyses, intermolecular interactions, and cell biology studies. Beyond academic contexts, purified proteins represent crucial tools in therapeutics and diagnostics, finding extensive use in the pharmaceutical industry. Reliable experimental data depend significantly on rigorous protein quality control.
This specialized course aims to familiarize participants with guidelines for protein quality control, providing a comprehensive overview into techniques to enhance accuracy and reproducibility in experiments involving purified proteins. Participants will explore fundamental methods and technologies, crucial for researchers already utilizing or intending to employ purified proteins in their laboratory protocols.
Key topics include overview of :
-
protein expression and purification methods;
-
optical properties of proteins;
-
hydrogen-deuterium exchange applications in protein quality control;
-
light scattering and mass photometry;
-
mass spectrometry;
-
storage, formulation and extended tests;
-
differential scanning fluorimetry;
-
protein-protein interactions.
Hands-on practical sessions will cover mass spectrometry; mass photometry; UV absorbance; fluorescence; circular dichroism; DLS; nanoDSF and SEC-MALS.
Open to junior researchers (PhD students and postdocs), the course accepts up to 18 participants based on application.
